Use the Import Data Tool
The data importers across Observe and vxSuite allow you to make bulk updates in the application itself, as opposed to using an API.
Edit items in bulk
You can access a specific set of data from tables in the application and then use the import tool to make bulks updates to the data.
-
Access the page where you want to perform bulk updates.

-
Click Import.
-

Add new items in bulk
You can use importers to add new items to the system in bulk, such as assets, device controllers, and so on. This process includes downloading and completing a spreadsheet template and then uploading the spreadsheet back into the system.
Download and complete template
-
On the Connected Assets page, click Import.
-
In the File type field, select Tab delimited, CSV, or Excel.
-
Click Download template.
The file downloads to your browser downloads folder.
-
Open the file and complete all required columns.
Upload template
After you complete the template, upload it to the system.
-
On the Connected Assets page, click Import.
-
In the File type field, select the format you used in the template.
-
Click Choose file and select the completed template from your device.
-
Click Open.
-
Click Import.
The system validates the data during upload and allows you to review a section of the data for accuracy:
-
If all data is valid, the assets are uploaded for final verification.
-
If errors are found, a message highlights the problematic rows, preventing the upload.
Since partial uploads are not allowed, correct any errors and re-upload the file.
